Dear Parents,
Welcome to Summer School 2010!
This handbook will provide you with information regarding our 2010 Summer School programme. It will outline subjects, expectations and general information about this year’s programme. You will also find attached application forms.
This year’s programme has been designed to challenge and motivate children through applying, analyzing and creating. We have incorporated a balance of academic and practical activities, giving students numerous opportunities to strive for excellence in all areas.
I look forward to working with your child at this year’s Summer School. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely

Assemblies
We will be holding short assemblies on Mondays and Fridays at 9:10am in the hall if you would like to attend.
Snack Time / Lunch Time
Children are expected to brink their own snack and lunch to school, as Caesar’s Kitchen will not operate during the Summer School. Please pack a healthy mid morning snack, lunch and a drink, it is essential that children have plenty of water to drink.
What to Wear
Children should wear casual, light summer clothes and light shoes. No indoor shoes are needed. Children in Nursery and Reception are required to bring a change of clothing each day in case of accidents. Please make sure your child brings a change of clothes suitable for P.E.
Lost and Found Items
Please make sure you write your children's names on their personal belongings. At the end of Summer School we will display any lost and found items. Please understand that any leftover items not claimed will be disposed of.
Parking
Please use the car parks in the vicinity of the school. It is illegal to park on Tor Road. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Typhoons/ Earthquakes
In case there is typhoon activity in Kobe, St. Michael’s has the following procedures for emergencies:
Two warnings are in use:
i. Chui Ho: School as usual. Parents must use their own discretion in deciding whether or not to keep their child at home, especially for those who travel from some distance away.
ii. Kei Ho: If this warning continues until 8:00am there will be no school. The office will inform everyone of the cancellation of school according to the first contact number you have reported to us on the student identification form.
If the Kei Ho is announced during school hours, students will be kept at school or at the evacuation shelter until collected by parents. If in doubt, please telephone the school office after 8:30am
In the event of communication/transportation problems arising from major tremors/earthquakes, students will be kept in school or at the evacuation shelter until collected by parents. In the unlikely event of an overnight stay being necessary, staff will remain with the students.
In the event of an emergency, our evacuation shelter is located at the
