Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Summer School Program

1. How do I apply and pay the fee?

To apply, please complete the Summer School Application Form available on our website. Payment can be made via bank transfer. Details are provided on the form.

2. When does the summer school application begin?

The summer school application begins in March and will close in June, or once all spots have been filled. It’s recommended to apply early to secure a spot.

3. Are swimming lessons included in the program?

Swimming lessons are included for children in the Lower and Upper School classes. These lessons are supervised by a local pool twice a week and focus on water safety and stroke development.

4. What outdoor activities are included? Are there any field trips?

Other than swimming lessons there are no other field trips planned outside of the school, there will be plenty of physical activities and daily water play activities to enjoy.

4. We are an overseas family, will we need a Japanese phone number when our child starts summer school?

On the application form please enter your current (overseas) phone number. Once you arrive in Japan, we recommend you get a Japanese SIM card and you can update your contact information. This means we can contact you quickly in case of an emergency.

5. What should I do if I can’t open the application form?

Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, switching to a different browser, disabling any extensions, or opening the form in Incognito Mode. These steps often resolve common issues with Google Forms.

6. Can I pay the fee in person at the school office?

Payments must be made via bank transfer. We do not accept in-person payments for the summer school program.

7.How do I know which class my child can join?

Please refer to the attached birthday chart to confirm the appropriate class for your child. 

8. I have applied to summer school. What is next?

Once you complete the application, a confirmation email will be sent to you. The finance department will follow up with an invoice. After payment is received, you’ll receive further details and reminders closer to the start date.

9. Can we enroll for one or two weeks?

Yes, you can enroll for any number of weeks—1, 2, 3, or 4—depending on availability. Early enrollment is recommended.

10. Does the school provide lunch?

Yes, a school lunch is optional at extra cost. There are vegetarian, non-vegetarian and dietary restriction menus. Children can bring their own lunch from home, please note the school operates as a nut free environment to reduce the risk of allergy issues.

11. What time does the day begin and end?

Summer School begins at 09:00 and ends at 15:00. Children can arrive from 08:45, and pick-up is at 15:00.

12. What kind of activities will the children do?

Activities include reading, creative writing, phonics, numeracy, science exploration, art, swimming lessons, physical education, and water-based activities. Fridays are special “Fun Fridays” with themed activities!

13. Can I visit the school before the start of summer school?

Yes, you are welcome to visit the school. Please contact us to schedule a visit that works for you.

14. Does the school offer a bus service?

Currently, there is no bus service for the Summer School program. However, we are conveniently located within walking distance of JR Sannomiya and JR Motomachi stations.

15. Is there a sibling discount?

Unfortunately, we do not offer sibling discounts at this time. However, our pricing is competitive and reflects the quality of our program.

16. Can children from overseas apply for the program?

Yes, children from overseas are welcome to apply. We only ask that you provide a local phone number once you arrive in Japan.

17. What should my child wear to Summer School?

Children should wear casual, light summer clothing and light shoes. They should also bring a swimsuit, towel, and appropriate wet footwear for swimming days.

18. What if my child has a health issue or I need to make a change in the pickup arrangement?

Please inform the school office if there are any health concerns as soon as possible or by 14:20 if there are any changes regarding who will pick up your child.

19. Can I cancel my child’s enrollment if needed?

You can cancel up to two weeks before the program starts for a full refund. There are partial refunds if you cancel within one week of the start date, and no refunds once the program begins.

20. Will there be a refund if the school is closed due to a natural disaster or health-related issue?

In the event of a natural disaster or health-related closure, no refund will be issued for days the program is not running, but we will issue a refund if the program is canceled entirely.
