Annual Fund

St. Michael’s International School is a not-for-profit independent school. We keep tuition as low as possible while safeguarding the integrity of our programmes. Around 80% of all tuition fees is committed to staffing our academic programmes, the heart of our mission. To go beyond this, we rely on the generosity of our community through our Annual Fund.

The Annual Fund is a year-long fundraising programme that strengthens and enriches many of the cultural and academic experiences that make St. Michael’s so distinctive. Contributions to the fund directly support enhanced learning opportunities, specialist resources, and innovative initiatives that ensure our students receive an education that is not only academically rigorous but also creative, joyful, and globally minded.

By giving to the Annual Fund, families and friends of the school play a vital role in sustaining the rich tapestry of experiences that define St. Michael’s. Every gift, whether large or small, makes a difference in nurturing the next generation of learners.

The Library Project – 2026

As part of our 80th Anniversary celebrations, we are delighted to launch The Library Project, a landmark initiative designed to transform our library into the vibrant heart of the school.

The new library will be a dynamic hub where reading, research, and innovation meet. It will be a place where students explore ideas, collaborate across year groups, and cultivate a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. It will also serve as a welcoming space for the wider school community, parents, alumni, and friends, to connect and share in the spirit of discovery that defines St. Michael’s.

The Library Project represents the next chapter in our history, building on the generosity of past donors who helped us realise improvements such as the sports roof and the hall renovation. By supporting this initiative, you can help us ensure that future generations of learners benefit from an inspiring space that reflects both our heritage and our forward-looking vision.

We are delighted that The Library Project has been awarded Tokuzo (特定公益増進法人) status by the Japanese government. This means that all donations to the project are tax-deductible against taxable income in Japan, offering donors a meaningful way to support the school while also receiving a financial benefit.

Jewel Donor Recognition

To celebrate and honour those who give so generously, we are relaunching our Jewel Donor Recognition Club. Donors to The Library Project and the Annual Fund will be recognised at different giving levels, each represented by a jewel that reflects both the rarity and the brilliance of their gift:

  • Diamond Donors – ¥1,000,000 and above
  • Ruby Donors – ¥500,000 – ¥999,999
  • Sapphire Donors – ¥250,000 – ¥499,999
  • Emerald Donors – ¥100,000 – ¥249,999
  • Pearl Donors – ¥10,000 – ¥99,999

Names of Jewel Donors will be displayed with gratitude, reminding future generations of the generosity that made this project possible.

By contributing, you not only support today’s students but also help create a legacy of learning and community that will inspire generations to come.
