A Capital Campaign is a special fundraising project that supports major improvements to our buildings and facilities. Unlike the Annual Fund, which focuses on short term needs, a Capital Campaign helps us invest in long term projects that will benefit children for many years to come.
Gifts to a Capital Campaign are usually larger and may be given over several years. They are used for big projects that cannot be covered by the normal school budget, such as new buildings, renovations or major upgrades to learning and play spaces.
At St Michael’s, our 70th anniversary Capital Campaign supported substantial renovations to the main building. This included the creation of a new school hall, a new playground surface and equipment, and a sports roof, all of which continue to enrich daily school life for our students.
Giving to a Capital Campaign is voluntary, but very powerful. Every contribution, whatever the size, becomes part of a lasting legacy that current and future generations of St Michael’s children will enjoy.
80th Anniversary Capital Campaign
As we prepare to celebrate St. Michael’s International School’s 80th Anniversary, we are proud to reflect on the transformation of our campus over the past decade. Thanks to the generosity of our community during the 70th Anniversary Project, we upgraded facilities, modernised classrooms and created inspiring learning spaces for our children including the school hall, playground and sports roof.
Today, just one essential part of our school remains unchanged – the library. As the heart of reading and inquiry for all our students, it’s time to reimagine this space for future generations. As St. Michael’s International School celebrates 80 years of creating tomorrow’s learners. To mark this milestone, we are launching a fundraising campaign to renovate our library – the heart of our school. Our goal, to raise ¥16 million to transform our library into a calm, inspiring space designed for children aged 3–11.
How Will Your Gift Help?
- Replace outdated furniture with child-friendly, accessible shelving.
- Add cozy seating and quiet reading areas.
- Refresh the space with calm colours and comfortable flooring.
- Create zones for independent reading, storytelling, and group learning.
- Update the range of age appropriate books, genres and languages available.
Every yen donated to the Capital Campaign will go directly to this project.
Donations made to our Library Project are eligible for tax reduction. As our school holds Tokuzo (特定公益増進法人) status, donors will receive an official receipt which can be submitted when filing an income tax return.
Together, we can build a library that reflects our shared values of growing, working, learning together. Your support will help us write the next chapter in SMIS history: 80 Years of Stories, Help Us Write the Next Chapter. See how your donation will be recognised.
