We enjoyed a great turnout of family, friends, teachers and learners from Year One to Year Six for our Earthquake Memorial Assembly today. Led with confidence and respect by Year Four our young learners demonstrated maturity and compassion as they talked knowledgeably about the devastating events of the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake which occurred on 17th January 1995. It was also a time to reflect on the New Year’s Day Noto earthquake which has affected thousands of people. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those still affected by the Great Hanshin Awaji earthquake and all of the the people on the Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa Prefecture suffering today. Special thanks to our School Chaplain Reverend Tolhurst who supported today’s service and to our guest speaker, Mark Benton, parent of SMIS alumni, who shared his experience of the1995 earthquake,
