Auditions are underway for the annual Performing Arts Showcase, which will be held on Friday 16th February. This popular event allows learners to demonstrate some of the talents and interests that they enjoy outside of school.
Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in mathematics, the sciences, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking and increased verbal skills. Leonardo Da Vinci was noted for his artistic and scientific skills, Pythagorus, the father of mathematics, made the connection between number and musical notation whilst Albert Einstein was famous both as a mathematician and musician.
Arts learning can help to improve concentration, motivation, confidence and teamwork and there is well documented evidence that children immersed in arts do better on academic tests. Engagement in the arts supports the health and well-being of children, their academic and personal growth and the development of higher order thinking skills.
We are fortunate to have so many talented learners with an impressive range of interests. As you can see, this year’s auditions are hotly contested! Good luck everyone!
