Today, we paused to remember the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, marking 30 years since the devastating event that forever changed so many lives. Our thoughts are with the individuals and families whose lives were deeply affected, and we honor the incredible resilience of the city of Kobe, which has risen stronger than ever.
At St. Michael’s, compassion and respect are at the heart of our school values. These principles guided our special memorial assembly, led by our talented Year 4 students. With remarkable confidence and eloquence, they demonstrated both respect for this important occasion and tremendous public speaking skills. Their thoughtful presentation reminded us all of the importance of empathy, unity, and hope in the face of challenges.
We are proud of our young learners and their ability to reflect on the lessons of the past while embodying the spirit of a brighter future.
