For nearly eighty years, the school hall at St Michael’s has been more than a room. It has been a stage, a classroom, a gathering place and, very often, the heart of school life. Generations of children have stood under its lights to sing, act, dance, narrate and present, learning to find their voice in front of an audience that believes in them.
From early nativity plays and British style pantomimes through to whole school assemblies, musical performances and class activities, our hall has always been a place where learning becomes visible. Children do not just recite lines. They collaborate, listen, take turns, support nervous classmates and discover what it means to perform with purpose. These experiences build confidence, presence and pride, qualities that stay with them long after they leave the stage.
As we mark our 80th anniversary we celebrate this enduring tradition. Every performance tells part of our story. Families, alumni and staff can remember moments on that stage that shaped them. The hall connects past and present and reminds us that a small school can give children very big opportunities. Look for news about our next pantomime which will be coming soon…
