This week, we have been delighted to welcome parents into school for our Class Orientation meetings. These meetings are an important part of the beginning of each school year. They give teachers the opportunity to share what learning will look like in the months ahead, explain routines and expectations, and help families understand how they can support their child’s learning at home.

Just as importantly, Parent Orientations help us to build relationships. At St. Michael’s, we believe that children thrive when home and school work closely together. Open communication, shared expectations and a strong sense of trust all contribute to a positive learning experience for every child. Our orientation meetings also provide an opportunity to share our mission, values and approach to education. They help parents understand not only what their children will learn, but also the kind of community we are working together to create: one where children feel known, valued, supported and that they belong.

The conversations that begin during these meetings strengthen the sense of partnership that sits at the heart of St. Michael’s. Parents, teachers and children all have an important role to play, and it is through these relationships that our community continues to grow. Growing, working, learning together.
