80 Years of Reading and the Joy of Sharing Stories

For almost eighty years, St. Michael’s International School has inspired generations of children to fall in love with books. From our earliest classrooms filled with well-worn storybooks to today’s bright, inviting reading spaces, the joy of stepping into a good story has remained at the heart of our school life.

Reading at St. Michael’s has always been about more than decoding words on a page. It is about imagination, curiosity, and connection, discovering new worlds, understanding others, and finding one’s own voice through stories. Whether reading aloud in class, sharing a favourite picture book with a friend, or performing poetry on stage, our children learn to communicate with confidence and empathy.

As we approach our 80th anniversary, we celebrate a legacy built on the simple yet powerful act of reading together. Our library remains a place of discovery and belonging, where stories spark conversations, ideas take shape, and a lifelong love of learning begins. Then and now, the joy of reading continues to unite our community, one story, one child, one shared moment at a time.
