Growing Global Citizens

Compassion is more than a feeling. It is the decision to notice, understand, and help. At St. Michael’s, compassion is a key part of how we grow global citizens. This term we put compassion into practice through Wellness Week and a fundraiser for TELL, a mental health organisation serving people in Japan. Students and families joined activities that promoted movement, mindfulness, rest, hydration, and kindness. They also learned why mental health matters and how their actions can support others.

These experiences turn values into habits. Children learn to listen, to speak up when someone needs help, and to work together for a purpose. They begin to see themselves as part of a wider community. This is global citizenship in daily life. Compassion also improves learning. It builds trust, strengthens relationships, and creates calmer classrooms where children can focus and thrive. It prepares young people to make responsible choices as they grow.

Thank you to everyone who took part in Wellness Week and supported the TELL fundraiser. Your example shows our students what it means to grow, work, and learn together. We will continue to create opportunities for service and wellbeing across the year, and we invite you to join us in nurturing compassionate global citizens
