As we move through Advent, our school community is encouraged to think of others and to look beyond our own celebrations. Each year, families, staff and pupils generously support our annual gift drive for a local children’s home so that every child there receives a gift at Christmas. Activities like this help our children understand that kindness and generosity are not just ideas, but choices we make in response to the needs around us.
Once the gifts are collected, our student leaders sort and prepare them for delivery. They help to carry, organise and present the gifts at the children’s home. This is a clear example of compassion in action. It also calls for respect and responsibility, as pupils represent the whole school and see first hand how their efforts matter.
For our learners, this tradition is a practical way to see that they can make a real difference in their community. They experience how giving together can bring joy and hope, and recognise that even small acts can have a big impact. In this way, our Advent gift drive supports not only the children who receive the presents, but also our own pupils, who learn to give with open hearts.
