Year 6 Camp: Celebrating Community Before Graduation

As the school year draws to a close, Year 6 enjoyed a memorable residential visit to Anan Camp, providing a wonderful opportunity to strengthen friendships, celebrate achievements and create lasting memories before graduation. The camp formed an important part of the students’ final weeks at St. Michael’s International School. Through a range of outdoor activities and shared experiences, the children demonstrated many of the personal skills that have been developed throughout their time at SMIS, including collaboration, communication, critical thinking and responsibility.

Away from the classroom, Year 6 were encouraged to work together, support one another and step outside their comfort zones. Whether tackling challenges as a team, participating in group activities or simply spending time together, the camp provided countless opportunities for personal growth and leadership.

Experiences such as Anan Camp highlight the value of outdoor education. Learning in a different environment helps children develop confidence, independence and problem-solving skills while fostering a deeper sense of community and belonging. It also allows students who may shine in different ways outside the classroom to showcase their strengths and talents. Most importantly, the camp provided a chance for Year 6 to enjoy one another’s company and celebrate the friendships they have built during their primary school years. As they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey, the memories, experiences and connections formed during Anan Camp will remain an important part of their SMIS story.

We are incredibly proud of the maturity, enthusiasm and teamwork shown by Year 6 throughout the visit. It was a fitting celebration of a remarkable group of students and a wonderful way to mark the beginning of their final chapter at St. Michael’s International School.
