Getting Ready for Sports Day

PE lessons are in full swing, and this half term our children are developing the athletics skills they will need for Sports Day. Even with limited space, our PE programme shows that great learning does not depend on having a large sports field. Through creative planning and carefully designed activities, children are practising running, jumping, throwing, balance and coordination while developing their overall fitness and confidence.

Lessons also provide plenty of opportunities to build important personal skills. Children learn to listen carefully, follow instructions, persevere when something is challenging and encourage one another as they work towards their own personal best. As Sports Day approaches, these lessons will help children become familiar with different athletics skills and events, while reinforcing an important message: taking part, trying your best and supporting others matter just as much as the result. Another example of our children growing, working and learning together.
