Manners Matter

Good manners are an important part of life at St Michael’s. This is especially true at lunchtime, when many classes share the cafeteria at the same time. When children remember to say please and thank you, use calm voices, eat politely and tidy their own space, lunchtime becomes more enjoyable for everyone. It shows respect for friends, staff and the shared environment.

Manners also help lunchtime run smoothly. When pupils listen carefully to instructions, move safely with their trays and clear away after eating, there is more time to relax, talk and enjoy the meal. Staff can focus on supporting children rather than managing noise or congestion. In this way, good manners support our school values and help create a caring, calm atmosphere.

Today we are pleased to celebrate the autumn term cafeteria award winners. Congratulations go to Year 1 and Year 5. Both classes have shown consistent responsibility and respect in the way they enter the cafeteria, talk with each other and look after the space they share. They have set a strong example for others and can be proud of their efforts.

As we begin the spring term, we will continue to focus on lunchtime manners across the school. By working together, we can make sure that the cafeteria remains a place where everyone feels welcome, respected and ready to enjoy their meal.
