Bringing Learning to Life

This week, our whole school production of Star Warts brought the St. Michael’s community together for two wonderful performances filled with singing, dancing, acting and laughter. From Year 1 to Year 6, our learners took to the stage with confidence, enthusiasm and creativity, creating a memorable experience for performers and audience members alike.

Whole school performances such as our annual pantomime are about far more than entertainment. They provide children with valuable opportunities to develop important communication and personal skills in a real and meaningful context. Throughout the rehearsal and performance process, learners strengthen their speaking and listening skills as they practise projecting their voices, responding to cues, following instructions and communicating clearly with others. Performing on stage also helps children develop confidence and resilience as they learn to step outside their comfort zones and perform in front of a live audience.

Productions like Star Warts also encourage creativity, collaboration and teamwork. Children work together across year groups, support one another and learn the importance of responsibility and commitment as they prepare for the performances. These shared experiences help build a strong sense of belonging and community across the school.

At St. Michael’s, we believe learning should be active, engaging and memorable. Opportunities such as school performances allow children to discover new talents, build self-belief and develop skills that will support them both inside and outside the classroom. We are incredibly proud of every learner who helped bring Star Warts to life and grateful to the staff and families who supported the production. The joy, confidence and community spirit seen throughout the performances truly reflected our mission of growing, working and learning together
