Year 1 proudly shared their learning with families, staff and classmates during their recent class assembly based on their IPC unit about light. Through songs, speaking, drama and presentations, the children confidently explained what they had discovered about different light sources, shadows and the importance of light in our everyday lives.
Class assemblies are an important part of learning at St. Michael’s International School. They provide children with valuable opportunities to develop communication, speaking and listening skills while building confidence in front of an audience. Assemblies also encourage collaboration, creativity and teamwork as children work together towards a shared performance and presentation.
As part of the IPC learning process, children are encouraged to reflect on and share their understanding in meaningful ways. The Year 1 assembly allowed the children to celebrate their learning journey and demonstrate how much they had developed throughout the unit. It was wonderful to see the children speaking so clearly, performing with enthusiasm and supporting one another throughout the presentation.
Events such as class assemblies also help strengthen the sense of community within the school by bringing families and learners together to celebrate progress and achievement. The smiles, excitement and sense of pride throughout the assembly reflected the positive and supportive learning environment that helps our youngest learners thrive.
We are very proud of Year 1 for their enthusiasm, confidence and hard work. They confidently helped our school community “see the light” through their enjoyable assembly performance.
